The Warriors came out with a veritable explosion of energy, jumping out to a commanding 23-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. Benjamin Euler (25 points) led in the starting minutes, with a 12-point surge, while Tim Rusthoven (11 points) got a number of good feeds in the post from the perimeter guards. The Warriors' largest lead in the first half came with 3:38 left in the 2nd quarter, when WA held the advantage over the Sabres 32-13. When Rusthoven was forced to leave at halftime due to some medical concerns, Jared Cochrum filled his role quite nicely, grabbing 3 valuable offensive rebounds and scoring 9 points. The other big man, Paul Werkema (10 points) also had another solid showing on Tuesday night, utilizing his physicality very well, and getting to the free throw line 8 times. Wheaton Academy maintained their lead throughout the remainder of the game. The closest Streamwood got to the Warriors was within ten points, 61-51, with 4:52 left in the fourth quarter. The team's patience, spacing, and discipline secured the win in the final minutes, with a comfortable final score of 75-61. Coach Paul Ferguson's team improves to 2-0 on the season with Tuesday night's win. The team will practice Wednesday before taking the day off Thursday in preparation for Friday night's matchup against Wheaton Warrenville South. Wheaton South narrowly escaped South Shore (the team that WA defeated Monday night) Tuesday night on a buzzer beating 3-pointer. Friday night's game will mark the first match up between WA and WWS since last year's regional semi-final in which WWS defeated WA .
