The varsity boys basketball team traveled into the city of Chicago on Wednesday evening to begin state tournament play against Chicago Manley of the Chicago Public school league. The Warriors fought hard and as a team throughout the game, breaking Manley's full court press, cutting off pentration on the defensive end, and rebounding the ball extremley well. WA was down 25-22 at the end of the first half.

Wheaton Academy gained a lead in the second half which gave them the ability to continue to dictate the pace of the game. Tim Rusthoven was a valuable presence in the post, scoring a team-high 25 points, while grabbing 16 rebounds. Benjamin Euler added 15 points, while grabbing 9 boards. Rusthoven and Euler's play, coupled with the smart play of guards Eric Albaugh and Quinn Gorski as well as the consistent play of Jason Roy (5 points) and Jared Cochrum (6 points) enabled the Warriors to get a huge win, and advance to the regional championship game on Thursday night against the number 1 ranked team in the state, Chicago Marshall.
