Statistics // Archived Broadcast of this game // Daily Herald Article 15-point Conference win vs. Illiana Posted on 12.01.07 at 10:51 PM
Wheaton Academy's Benjamin Euler (23 points) began the game by knocking down a pair of three pointers, as the Warriors looked to gain an early lead over the Vikings. Although WA seemingly dominated all aspects of the game, Illiana remained close by. The warriors led by three after the first quarter 14-11, and by three at the half, 24-21. The game certainly would have been different if the Warriors could have raised their free throw percentage (21-for-38 total) and minimized the number of Illiana offensive rebounds. Paul Werkema (18 points) had a relentless presence underneath the basket. He completed three 3-point plays, and found himself at the free throw line 13 times for the night. Dave Toellen (11 points) scored a personal season-high by knocking down a number of jumpers in addition to grabbing 5 defensive rebounds for the Warriors. Wheaton Academy went on a 9-0 run in the third quarter, and closed the game in the final minutes shooting free throws. The Warriors improve to 5-1 on the season, and will not play again until next Saturday night at the Lisle Shootout.
