Second half adjustments give WA big PSL win

Coming off of a tough loss to Aurora Christian last Tuesday at the United Center, the Warriors looked to rebound against a very tough and physical Chicago Christian team. Chicago Christian defeated the Warriors last year in Palos Heights 58-49, and Wheaton Academy looked to return the favor this year in the friendly confines of the Warrior Dome.

Playing without big man Tim Rusthoven and key point guard Eric Albaugh, the Warriors struggled offensively in the first half. WA did a fair job defensively, but the Knights' Joel Kamp (23 points) sunk a number of three-pointers to give CCHS a slight lead throughout the first half.

The Warriors turned things around in the second half, starting with their defense. A switch to zone shut down Chicago Christian, and Wheaton Academy climbed their way back to tie and then take the lead. Disciplined offense yielded open layups for Jason Roy (14 points) and David Toellen (10 points). Benjamin Euler (17 points) went 7-for-7 from the free throw line in the 53-45 victory, and the team collectively shot 13-14 from the free throw line. In addition, WA committed only 15 turnovers for the game.

The Warriors improve to 7-2 on the season. They will face St. Francis next Friday night at home before breaking for Christmas.
