Seniors Finish Well in Warrior Dome

Saturday night's PSL matchup between Wheaton Academy and Luther North was the sixth and final game of the day, as all six teams played. The game didn't actually start until about 8:20 PM, but that simply allowed the Warrior Dome to be packed to a fuller capacity with latecomers not missing any action.

It was Senior Night, and all five seniors started in the game. Mike Lindstedt began the game with a smooth 17-foot jump shot. Sean Berbert's tenacious defense and all-out hustle complimented John Albaugh's uncanny scoring ability off the drive in the first quarter. The Warriors jumped to a 19-3 lead over the Wildcats with 1:49 left in the quarter.

Lindstedt continued to be a solid presence in the second quarter, grabbing rebounds (6 total for the game) and scoring on offensive rebounds (6 points for the night). Wheaton Academy, who had scored 21 points in the first quarter only put up 12 points against Luthor North's 18, bringing the score to 33-25 at halftime in favor of the Warriors.

John Albaugh, who led the team with 15 points opened up the third quarter with a drive and finish with his right hand. Tim Rusthoven also got involved offensively, knocking down 6 of his 8 shot attempts, totalling 12 points. WA held a comfortable 49-37 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Luther North got to within 6 points, 51-45 with 6:17 to go in the fourth quarter, but the Warriors eventually regained that lead, and with two minutes left, the five seniors subbed out for the last time in playing a high school basketball game in the Warrior Dome, with a 62-46 lead.

The win moves Wheaton Academy's record to 11-11, and keeps them as the only undefeated team in the Private School League (6-0). Their next game is next Friday night at Streamwood High School.
