The way the Wheaton Academy Warriors played Wednesday night at East Aurora against Chicago Orr was simply continuing Tuesday night's double overtime style of play. WA picked up where they left off opening the first quarter by outscoring Orr 24-18. Three point baskets were falling at a steady pace for the Warriors, who shot 47.1% from behind the arc in the first half. Guards Axel Cerny (17 points, 7 rebounds) and John Tillery (22 points, 4/7 3pt FG) were among the players who shot well, both hitting 2 of 3 three pointers in the first half alone. Despite the good performance by the Warriors, Orr kept up with them trailing only by 7 points at the half, 38-31.

The third quarter brought intensity on both ends of the court. John Tillery hit two more three's, Nate Williams (11 points, 3 rebounds) connected on two buckets in the paint, and Jason VanderVeen (4 points, 6 assists) knocked down an eight footer to extend the WA lead to 13 points entering the final period of play 53-39.

Fourth quarter scoring for the Warriors were all layups or short six-footers with the exception of an Axel Cerny three. Coach Euler's team continued solid, unselfish play to earn the 19 point victory. The team shot 42.3% (11/26) from the three point line and 51% from the field. WA out-assisted Chicago Orr 20-8 and had less turnovers than they did. Wheaton Academy improves to 4-6 on the season and will play in the last game of the tournament tomorrow. WA will play in the third place game Thursday night at 6:15 PM against presumably Rockford East, though that is not yet official.
