Wheaton Academy improved to 16-11 on the season Wednesday night in Lombard with an eleven point victory over non-conference opponent Montini Catholic. The seven o'clock game started out rather quietly for the Warriors, who were cold from three point range. WA led by five points after playing one quarter. Minor defensive breakdowns in the second quarter allowed for 12 Montini points. Jeremy Parker (14 points) sunk a three before time expired to partially regain WA's lead 24-17 going into the locker room at the half.

Wheaton Academy was more disciplined offensively in the second half, but Montini kept coming at the Warriors, coming within five points at one point. Patiently run offense in the fourth quarter sealed the win for WA, outscoring the Broncos 19-13 in the final quarter. Jeremy Parker led the team with 14 points for the night followed by the consistant scoring John Tillery with 13, and Axel Cerny with 10 points. Wheaton Academy shot 71.4% from the free throw line (10/14), scoring 57 points total for the game, just under their average of 63 per game.

Next Monday, February 27, Geneva High School will play host to the Class AA Regional Tournament where Wheaton Academy will face Kaneland High School in quarter-final action at 7:30 PM.
