Wheaton Academy 78, Lisle 63:

Basketball coaches are always talking about how important it is to have a third scoring option.

In the first half Lisle needed only their first two options as Jeff Robinson and Trey Triplett combined for all 40 points to lead the Lions to a 40-27 lead in West Chicago.

Robinson was unstoppable as he put in 24 of his game-high 32 points on a combination of outside shots, pull-up short jumpers and drives.

Anytime Robinson or a teammate missed, Triplett was there for the putback, scoring 16 of his 25 points before the intermission.

"We came out with a lot of intensity tonight," Robinson said. "We executed really well, kept our composure and didn't turn the ball over."

"We were just feeling it today," Triplett said. "Jeff hit some big 3s to stretch out the defense and then we were able to get it inside."

Despite the hot shooting and control of the backboards, Lisle (19-5) could never quite shake off the hard-working Warriors (6-17).

In the first half Jeremy Parker kept Wheaton Academy within shouting distance with 13 of his 18 points, including three 3-pointers.

After the break Lisle's other three starters joined the offense and helped build the lead to 53-32, and a 58-41 margin at the end of three quarters.

Wheaton Academy's Mark Aloisio was effective from the inside in the second half, scoring 17 of his team-high 19 to keep Warriors in the game. With two minutes to go, a 3-pointer by Parker closed the gap to 72-61.

But a putback by Triplett and a pair of buckets by Shamon Cherry increased the lead at the end.

Triplett collected a game-high 12 rebounds, 9 of them on offense.

"We moved the ball really well tonight," said Lisle coach Mark D'Amico. "And we played good defense. Wheaton Academy is a tough team, and it's a good win for us when we can come in here and beat them."

"We're clicking on all cylinders," Robinson said. "And this is where we want to be heading into the postseason."

For Lisle, Nick Iovinelli added 10 points and Cherry 9, all in the second half.

Axel Cerny finished with 13, including three 3-pointers for Wheaton Academy.

"Robinson and Triplett are great players," said Wheaton Academy coach Andy Euler. "They took us down in the first half. But I was happy with the way we played. Lisle is a great team, but we just didn't take advantage of our shooting opportunities. We were running our offense and getting our shots, but we just didn't hit enough of them."
