Ferguson hired as new Head Coach

Paul Ferguson was recently hired as the new head boys' basketball coach for Wheaton Academy. Coach Ferguson has served as head assistant coach at Wheaton College for the past six years as well as the director of intramurals. In addition to teaching in the History department previously at Wheaton Academy, Ferguson coached the sophomore team for four seasons before beginning at Wheaton College, compiling a 50-38 record and serving as a varsity assistant. The recent hiring comes in light of Coach Andy Euler's move to Covenant College. In addtion to coaching, Paul will be teaching part-time (a combination of History and Bible classes) as well as helping with Academic and Student Advisement.

Ferguson, a native of Simsbury, Connecticut, is a 1994 graduate of the University of Notre Dame where he earned a BA in history. Ferguson served as a student-assistant on the John Macleod-led Irish basketball teams from 1992-94. As a member of the Fighting Irish staff he was heavily involved in scouting and recruiting during his tenure. While in college he was a champion boxer and was named as one of the captains of the Notre Dame boxing squad in his junior year.






Ferguson assisted Bill Harris for the last 6 years.



In 1995 Ferguson taught at Brother Rice High School in Chicago and coached the freshman boys basketball team. His squad recorded a 22-3 mark that season. Ferguson also served as a varsity assistant coach on the Brother Rice squad that won Chicago's Catholic League Championship. During the summer he serves as the assistant director of the Wheaton College Basketball Camp and as also served on the staff at Five Star Basketball Camp in Pennsylvania since 1991. For the past two years he has been involved as a counselor/lecturer at Hoop Heaven Basketball Camp in New York which is a camp that ministers to inner-city youths from New York and New Jersey.
Ferguson is the oldest of seven children. His sisters Meghan (1995), Krista (1998) and Melissa (2000) are all Wheaton College graduates. He has a Master's Degree from Aurora University in Education, which he earned in 1997 and has recently completed a Master's Degree from Wheaton in Spiritual Formation. Paul and his wife, Michelle (former Student Services Coordinator), live in Wheaton.
