Wheaton Academy defeats Caruthersville

Wheaton Academy earned its second victory out of the southern Illinois three-game tournament Saturday night in Metropolis against Caruthersville from Missouri. Caruthersville (rated #10 in class 3 in Missouri) was a team with a 12-2 record coming into the game. The win gave the Warriors a third place finish in the tournament.

"We played with good intensity the 2nd half against a talented Caruthersville team. We had good leadership from our guards and center Mark Aloisio," head coach Andy Euler said about the game.

Axel Cerny had 14 points, Jeremy Parker had 10 points, Matt Almaraz had 9, and Mark Aloisio scored 20, scoring 15+ points in four consecutive games now. Junior guard Jason VanderVeen, and Mark Aloisio were both named to the Superman Classic all-tournament team.
