Wheaton Academy faced the Chargers of Peoria Christian at an unnusual time of 1:00 PM Saturday afternoon. The game, a part of the one day Playing for Pride Lisle Shootout, was one of ten other games taking place on Saturday consisting of the top Class A basketball teams in Illinois.
The Warriors played poorly in comparison to what they have done before, turning the ball over countless times, and not hitting shots, but managed to keep it a close game against a young Peoria team with solid defense. WA entered the 4th quarter down by three.
Wheaton Academy closed out the game with a shaky final two minutes, but played well enough to contain Peoria. Wheaton Academy's defensive pressure is what gave them the win. WA improves to 2-5 (0-2). Mark Aloisio led the team with 17 points, and was named game MVP. Matt Almaraz, who turned eighteen on Saturday, added 11 points.
